VA Reptile Rescue, Inc. is available for emergency calls regarding removing snakes and other reptiles from your home. In order to qualify for this service you must:

* be within reasonable driving distance of Richmond, Virginia.

* have the reptile  IN YOUR SIGHT, or captured in a container (use a rake or broom to sweep it into a large garbage can - they can't crawl out of it)

* be willing to pay a small, reasonable fee for our time and gasoline

* NOT harm the animal

Please use caution when capturing a snake;  if you aren't sure if it is dangerous, look here at the Virginia Herp Society online Identification Guide.

A note: 99% of all calls we receive from people who are "darned sure" that they have a venomous snake are incorrect. Moccasins do not occur in Virginia north of the Petersburg/Hopewell area. Copperheads rarely enter the water for long periods.  Lastly, venomous snakes do NOT interbreed with non-venomous snakes.
