Snakes long, legless and flexible slithering creatures. There more than 2,400 species and they live on every continent expect in Antarctica. This is because snakes cannot survive on cold ground. Snakes have a bad reputation of being predators and poisonous. Snakes only attack humans when startled and not all snakes are poisonous only 375 species are venomous. As a matter of fact, docile snakes are popular as pets in the Western world. Snakes have a symbolic role in religion and mythology.
